Three Ways to Get Your Espresso Fix

If you like espresso coffee, there are now various way you can satisfy your craving for that brown frothy fix.

First, as you have probably noticed, over the last few years there has been an explosion in high street coffee shops. Walk down the high street of any town in the UK and you are likely to see the familiar logos of Starbucks, Costa Coffee, Cafe Nero, Coffee Republic, along with other, lesser-known or privately-owned cafes. Any one of these places will serve you a shot of espresso, although some will be far better than others (are you listening, Mr Starbucks?). Your second option is to buy your own espresso machine, so you can brew up your own espresso at home. These machines are quite expensive because they need to contain some sturdy, well-build components due to the way that the boiling water (or steam) is forced at extremely high pressure through the ground coffee to produce the frothy mix. They can also be awkward to maintain and to clean.

Your third option, and the one that is gaining in popularity, is to buy an espresso coffee pod machine. This is by far the easiest way to make yourself an espresso. Just pour water in the container, insert the single-serve coffee pod, flick the switch and hey presto! You now have an excellent cup of espresso that tastes as good as anything you might find on the high street. It is quick, simple and tasty.

In terms of cost per cup, the espresso pods are probably cheapest, although the machine itself is expensive to buy. In terms of convenience, the coffee pod machine wins hands down. And as for the coffee shops? My personal favorite is Café Nero, which, in my opinion, is vastly superior to the ubiquitous Starbucks.
