You know, this type of fear causes severe anxiety to countless people, to the point that most, if not all of them have given up air travel for years now. There are even cases wherein aircrafts are forced not to take flight due to their passengers who are suffering from extreme fear of flying. There are some people who can travel by air after taking anxiety drugs and pills. If you have a job that involves you traveling overseas, then you are left with no other option but to look for ways on how you can overcome you fear of flying. To help you out, here are a few suggestions.

1.) In order to handle this particular problem, you need to first recognize what aspect of flying is it that triggers your anxiety or panic attacks. It might be that you have claustrophobic tendencies. Claustrophobia is the fear of being in small and confined spaces and some of the claustrophobia symptoms include shortness of breath, tightening of the chest and nausea to name a few. This phobia alone could already be a triggering factor. The idea of crashing or the plane getting hijacked by a terrorist could also elicit your fear. The turbulence or the engine noise as well as the thought of just being a passenger and not having control of the plane can make you feel nervous and jittery as well. If you can determine the cause of your fear, it would then be a whole lot easier for you to find the right solution to overcoming fear of flying.

2.) Another thing that is important is to arm yourself with facts that pertain to flying. You know, the probability of having a car crash is actually a lot higher as compared to plane crashes. Airplanes are assembled with exceptionally high accuracy, precision and reliability. Knowing more about all of the things with regards to aircrafts as well as air travel will help ease and calm your mind. Thus, you would be able to conquer your fear of flying and the panic episodes which are normally associated with it.

3.) You could also ask for the support of others. These days, there are plenty of online forums and support groups that you could join which can help you deal with your problem.

Arrive Refreshed After A Long Haul Flight

Airline travel is more crowded and uncomfortable than ever.  But there are a few things you an do to improve your overall travel experience and arrive at your destination as well rested as possible.  Some of this comes down to planning for your trip but there are also a few things you can do while on board to increase your comfort.

When it comes to planning make sure you travel with a set of lightweight suitcases.  This will help you carry more without falling foul of airline baggage restrictions and having to pay any hefty fines.  But still pack with care.  If you don’t plan on wearing an item more than once, perhaps it would be better left at home.  While you are researching suitcase models remember to choose a design that you can easily recognize.  Some travelers resort to bright colors which is why you now see pink suitcases, red spotted luggage and other bold designs on the carousel.

Dress comfortably, in loose-fitting shoes and clothes for the flight.  Wearing layers will allow you to adjust your clothing to fit changing temperatures on the plane and in the airport.  Remember that you may have to remove any belts and shoes at security screening.

Its easy to get dehydrated on the airplane.  On most carriers you will be supplied with water throughout the flight.  But if your lips, eyes and skin are prone to drying out carry on some lip balms, eye drops and skin moisturizer.  But remember that you are not allowed any containers of liquids and gels that are larger than 3.4 ounces and all carry on liquids need to be placed inside a single plastic bag.  When you pack your other toiletries in your checked luggage make sure all bottles are sealed properly.  Your checked baggage will experience significant pressure changes which can result in messy a spillage.  Not something you will want to deal with at your destination.

The Popular Inca Trail Trek

The Inca Trail Trek to Machu Picchu is one of the most popular treks worldwide. The splendor of the surroundings and the majesty of the ruins from the Inca Empire make it well worth the preparations needed for it. Fortunately, the paths and ruins are well marked so you do not need anything near as detailed as an Everest Base Camp trek map, however some details do need to be attended to beforehand.

Most people start off at Cusco, the main Peruvian tourist city. The trek itself takes around four days, though it is a good idea to allow extra time for exploring the city of Cusco and nearby tourist spots as there is certainly plenty to see in the city as well.

While on the trek you will see many splendid ruins and absolutely marvellous scenery. You will camp out along the trail, usually at one of the famous ruin sites. Paved trails will lead you up and down steps, through tunnels and along scenic paths.

Everyone who makes the trek must take a guide and a porter along with them. Some people prefer more organized tours, as all of their meals are taken care of and they do not need to bring their own tents or sleeping bags.
You will need to bring warm clothing, raincoats, hats, sunscreen and sunglasses, a walking stick if you want to and of course your camera. Guides should provide you with a list of essential items needed before you leave for your trip.

Currently only 500 people a day are allowed on the trail, however this includes porters and guides. If you are planning on it, be sure to book well in advance, especially if you are planning on travelling during peak tourist season. Bookings are easily made online or via a travel agency.

Dealing with Delayed Baggage

When you are standing near the baggage carousel after a long flight, it can seem to take an eternity for the luggage to slow trickle out on the conveyor belts. Although each airline has different policies, most baggage pickups take anywhere between five minutes to half an hour. If the baggage line has stopped and your rolling suitcase has not showed up, you may be faced with a lost or delayed bag.

If your luggage has been delayed, you should try to avoid panicking. If your suitcase was delayed, there is a good chance that other people’s belongings were delayed as well. Check to see if your kids rolling suitcase or friend’s baggage have arrived yet. If a substantial amount of passengers have not received their items, then perhaps a baggage crate has been delayed.

In the event of a delay, usually the airline will send out a notice via loudspeaker or computer screen. If there has been no notice, make sure to notify the airline personnel about the problem. About 98% of all misdirected luggage has been returned properly, so try not to worry too much. There is a good chance your bags are on the next flight, so you may have them within a few hours. If they somehow found their way to another airport, you might have to wait a few days before receiving them. The airline will usually send the bag to you if they are provided with an address or phone number.

Some airlines will reimburse you if the luggage has been delayed for a long time. However, you will need to keep your receipt to prove ownership of the bags. Even if there are no reimbursements, almost all airlines will send the bag to any location free of charge. This can be inconvenient if you are on vacation, but it is better than losing your belongings.
