Lil Wayne Songs
He maybe called Lil Wayne, but he’s one of the biggest hip hop stars in the industry today, with a career spanning over 25 years that started when he was nine years old, becoming the youngest member of the label Cash Money Records. Since then, a lot of Lil Wayne songs have become very popular, along with the ones on which he collaborated with other artists.

Lil Wayne’s singing career began when he met Bryan Williams, rapper and owner of Cash Money Records. He was mentored by Williams and with Lil Wayne new songs were produced in collaboration with rapper B.G., forming a group called “The B.G.’z”.
Years after that, in 1997, Lil Wayne joined a group called the Hot Boys, again becoming the youngest member of the group. The group made, with Lil Wayne new song after new song, and featured in their major-label debut “Guerrilla Warfare”, an album that reached the top spot at number 1 on the Billboard Hip-Hop/R&B chart, and reached #5 on the Billboard top 200.
Eventually, Lil Wayne flew solo. He debuted an album named “The Block Is Hot” at the age of 17. The album featured contributions from the Hot Boys and reached #3 on Billboard, earning him an award nomination for Source magazine’s Best New Artist. Since then, nearly all Lil Wayne songs have become popular on the airwaves, building up to securing his place as one of Hip-Hop’s rising stars.
Between 2000-2002, however, things began to slow down for Lil Wayne. “Lights Out”, his follow up album, was certified gold but failed to reach the success of his debut album. Critics then began to nitpick his work, saying that all Lil Wayne songs on the album lacked the maturity that his fellow Hot Boys have achieved. They also pointed out the idea that his verses lacked coherent narratives.
In 2004 however, Lil Wayne released “Tha Carter”, which critics praised as an improvement in Lil Wayne’s style and lyrics. Soon after, Destiny’s Child featured Lil Wayne for their hit single “Soldier”, a song that reached #3 on the U.S. R&B and Hot 100 charts, further pushing Lil Wayne’s star upward. The followup album, “Tha Carter II”, contained songs that also became popular.
2008 brought about “Tha Carter III”, 1 year delayed from its original-intended 2007 release date. It featured the song “Lollipop” that reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking his first #1 song on the chart. He also did a series of collaborations with many successful stars like The Game, Usher, T-Pain, Lloyd, and T.I., among others. The year after that brought about his debut rock album called “Rebirth”, released in 2009.
On March 8, 2010, he was sentenced to one year in prison for criminal possession of a weapon and marijuana.
