Vessel Faucets Declassified
You may have to do a lot of thinking if you intend to look for vessel faucets that will replace your old ones. A lot of considerations are involved in the process, so do yourself a favor and learn more about the different types before actually going to the hardware shop to buy your replacements.
There are three configurations of faucets available on the market: the floor-mounted, deck-mounted and wall-mounted types. Among these, the floor-mounted vessel faucet is the most widely used. The wall mount vessel faucet requires the water supply to extend above the sink or the tub that it will fill. Thus, it must be placed a little over the vessel sink to avoid the water from spilling out.
To make your decision harder, even wall mounted faucets have their own varieties as well. One is the single wall mount faucet. This type allows you to control the temperature of the water with the utilization of just a single lever. It can come with a stem cartridge integrated inside its valves which you can move either sideways or up and down. On the other hand, instead of having a stem cartridge, a single wall mount faucet can also be controlled by means of a ball-shaped device which you can rotate in order to let the water flow. The latest addition to this type is a configuration that utilizes ceramic discs. One disc is fixed while the stationary disc restricts water flow by moving on top of the other.
Meanwhile, another type of wall mount faucet manages the flow and temperature of the water by means of two handles. One handle is used for handling the cold water temperature, while the other is used to modify the hot temperature. On the base of its valves is a compressed rubber washer that closes and opens to control water flow. The valves may either be in the form of cartridges or disc valves. The latest innovation in plastic and metal cartridges in the dual-handle faucet is capable of shutting off automatically after a definite period of time.
Now that you’ve become an informed consumer, the most obvious thing for you to figure out is how to balance your budget without compromising the quality and dependability of your faucets.
